What's the difference between 4WD hire, tag-along and guided tours?
With 4WD hire you're fully independent with no guide. On a tag-along you drive but follow a guided convoy. On a guided tour someone else drives. 4WD hire offers the most freedom but the most responsibility.
Do I need experience to hire a 4WD for K'gari?
Some sand-driving confidence helps, as you're on your own. You'll need a valid licence, a vehicle access permit and to understand the tides. If you're unsure, a tag-along tour is a safer first visit.
