Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Your K’gari Adventure Begins!
7:00 AM – Depart Pippies Beachhouse Our K’gari adventure kicks off bright and early! Depart Pippies Beachhouse at 7:00am sharp and make your way to Inskip Point for a 20-minute barge ride across to K’gari (Fraser Island). Morning – 75 Mile Beach & Eurong Feel the excitement as we drive along the world-famous 75 Mile Beach, the island’s natural highway, before heading inland toward one of K’gari’s most iconic spots — Lake McKenzie. Midday – Lake McKenzie Take a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear, pure freshwater of Lake McKenzie. Its pristine white sand and vibrant blue water make it one of the most photographed lakes in Australia — and for good reason! Afternoon – Central Station & Wanggoolba Creek After lunch at Central Station, enjoy a peaceful walk alongside the Wanggoolba Creek, where crystal-clear waters flow gently through lush rainforest. Learn about K’gari’s fascinating history — from ancient times to when it became a protected paradise. Evening – Pippies Beach Camp Return to 75 Mile Beach and make your way to our incredible Pippies campsite. Unwind, relax, and soak in the coastal vibes after an adventurous day. Dinner & Campfire Time to fire up the BBQ! Cook and share a delicious meal with your new Fraser Family, then spend the evening socialising under the stars, swapping stories around the campfire or chilling under the covered seating area.
Day 2 — Northern Wonders & Coastal Magic
Morning – Breakfast & Departure Wake up early to the smell of beans, chipolatas, bacon, hash browns, and toast — the perfect fuel for another epic day on K’gari! After breakfast, hop back into the 4WDs as we head further north along 75 Mile Beach. Champagne Pools Our first stop: the famous Champagne Pools. Take a dip and feel the fizz as waves crash over volcanic rock formations, creating natural bubbling “champagne” pools — a truly unique K’gari experience! Wildlife Spotting on the Beach Drive Keep your eyes peeled during the drive — the waters off K’gari are teeming with life. Depending on the season, you might spot Humpback Whales (August–October) breaching offshore, along with sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, rays, and schools of vibrant tropical fish. Eli Creek – Nature’s Lazy River After lunch back at Pippies Camp, we make our way to Eli Creek, the largest freshwater creek on the island’s eastern beach. Walk the scenic boardwalk through lush greenery, then float back down the crystal-clear creek on a tube or ring — a refreshing and fun K’gari must-do! Maheno Shipwreck & The Pinnacles Next, we visit the historic Maheno Shipwreck, where the weathered remains of this once-grand ocean liner rest dramatically on the sand. As the sun begins to dip, capture the rusty wreck silhouetted against golden skies and the colourful dunes beyond. On the way back to camp, we make a quick stop at The Pinnacles, a striking formation of layered, coloured sands that beautifully showcase K’gari’s geological history. Evening – Back to Camp & Dinner Under the Stars Return to Pippies Camp and unwind after an action-packed day. Wash off the sand and salt in the modern amenities block just a short stroll from camp, then it’s dinner time! Tonight, we cook up a delicious chicken and vegetable stir-fry together before relaxing under the Southern Hemisphere’s spectacular night sky. Chat, laugh, and share stories with your Fraser Family around the campfire — the perfect way to end another unforgettable day.
Day 3 — Lake Wabby & Farewell to Paradise
Morning – Pancake Breakfast & Departure Wake up for your final morning in paradise! Enjoy a hearty breakfast of pancakes with maple syrup and fresh fruit, plus toast and spreads, before setting off on the last adventure of your K’gari journey. Lake Wabby Hike & Swim Travel a short way down the eastern beach to reach the entrance to Lake Wabby. From here, take a 40–45 minute scenic walk along a sandy track through lush bushland, emerging onto the vast Hammerstone Sandblow — a stunning natural landscape of shifting golden dunes. A short stroll across the sand leads to Lake Wabby, the deepest lake on K’gari, where emerald waters meet the sandblow. Take a dip, relax on the shore, and soak in the serenity of this special place. Lunch & Farewell Drive Enjoy lunch on the beach, then begin the journey back toward the barge and mainland — but not before one last K’gari tradition! We’ll hunt for the mysterious Eugarie (pippies) and discover the story behind our name. Return to Rainbow Beach Catch the barge back to Rainbow Beach, arriving at Pippies Beachhouse between 1:00 PM and 4:30 PM (depending on the tides). Settle in and relax with your Fraser Family for one last evening together — the perfect chance to swap photos, memories, and a few final laughs before your K’gari adventure comes to an end.
